Stop Press! Discount YSL Touche Eclat!

Yves-Saint-Laurent Touche EclatYes, you heard that right – YSL’s miracle concealer wand is now cheaper – but only in Australia. It is now down in price from AUSD $78 to $55, in order to bring it into line with European and US prices for Touche Eclat.

That is exciting news not just for Touche Eclat afficianados but also for luxury cosmetics in Australia, as I hope it heralds a shift where we don’t pay quite such exorbitant amounts for makeup in Australia. I nearly passed out the first time I bought makeup back in Sydney – $78 for a blush (which is about £47). Much more expensive than the UK. This doesn’t stop Australian women from being some of the biggest cosmetics consumers on the planet, so I think it’s wonderful that YSL in Australia have recognised this discrepancy in pricing and moved to rectify it. Nasty dark eye circles rejoice and begone!

And whilst I’m at it, it has been brought to my attention that YSL now have a new shade, Number 8, which is a lemon coloured Touche Eclat. This is exciting as it really is the shade that was missing from the range (and for which I have been substituting Clinique Airbrush in my kit instead for a number of years). Number 8 was created for the Asian market so I’m not sure if it’s available in Europe, however it now means that Touche Eclat is a much more comprehensive concealer range covering pretty much everyone – darker skintones, Asian skintones, and of course, Caucasian (I usually mix number 2 and 3 for most of my fair complected clients.)

  1. Well, there really is nothing to beat this product and hasn’t been for years, so I think you just have to bite the bullet and pay up ! great if it is cheaper from time to time, but it’s a make-up essential and I couldn’t do without it.

  2. I am either a retard or my dark circles are as bad as I thought because the YSL Touche Eclat does not work for me at all! Like it does nothing, and I have tried a few shades.

I tried it a good 5 yrs ago now so maybe the formula has changed but i found it so watery and didn’t cover. Is this just me? Am I unco? Is there a trick?

    1. No, you’re not a spaz! Touche Eclat is definitely a highlighter as opposed to a hardcore corrector, and if you have very dark circles you will need a thicker concealer. You can try the thicker one on it’s own or layer it with the TE. My favourite thick concealer is Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, although you do need to mix in a bit of moisturiser to sheer it out (it’s so thick it’s opaque!) I’m also currently liking Benefit’s Erase Paste and the Smashbox High-Def liquid concealer. Just check the undertones on the concealer to make sure they’re right for you – not every concealer is a good match for every skintone.

  3. I was so, so pleased when I saw the price had dropped. I mean, when has that EVER happened in Australia before? Rare!

It worked well enough on me though; I bought my first tube of #1 in, oh, a good six or seven years? Now they’ve hooked me and I’m back on the radiance wagon all over again.
